The Boston-based feature comes from ‘Mystic River’ scribe Brian Helgeland.
An A-list trio has been assembled for a hot new package, Finest Kind.
Jake Gyllenhaal, Ansel Elgort and Zendaya will star in the crime drama from Brian Helgeland, the Oscar-winning writer-director behind Mystic River, L.A. Confidential and A Knight’s Tale.
Producing are Krasnoff/Foster Entertainment, and Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas of Imperative Entertainment. Gyllenhaal and his Nine Stories partner Riva Marker are also producing. 30WEST is financing the film.
STX Entertainment is handling international distribution on the new project which will be introduced to buyers at Berlin’s European Film Market. CAA and Endeavor Content is repping domestic rights.
The story centers on two half-brothers, to be played by Gyllenhaal and Elgort, that are reunited as adults after being raised by different fathers. When one discovers his estranged father has only months to live, he strikes a dangerous deal with a crime syndicate, putting him and his brother on a collision course with the Boston underworld.
Gyllenhaal, who is no stranger to the crime drama genre as the star of Night Crawler and Nocturnal Animals, will next be seen in the Annapurna Western The Sisters Brothers. He is repped by WME and Bloom Hergott.
Zendaya is currently in theaters with awards contender and sleeper hit The Greatest Showman, and is set for the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. She is repped by CAA, Monster Talent and Skrzyniarz & Mallean.
Next up for Baby Driver star and onscreen terminally ill teen, Elgort, is Warner Bros.’ The Goldfinchadaptation, in which he leads a cast that includes Nicole Kidman and Sarah Paulson. He is repped by CAA, Brookside and Morris Yorn.
Helgeland won an Oscar for writing L.A. Confidential and directed the Jackie Robinson biopic 42, which starred Chadwick Boseman, and Legend, a crime drama that starred Tom Hardy. He is repped by CAA and Jackoway Tyerman.

Jake Gyllenhaal is looking handsome
as always in the new photoshoot for GQ Australia, he also gave a interview for the magazine. Check the pictures in our gallery and read the interview below:
In a chic New York office, Jake Gyllenhaal is sitting alongside a man named Jeff Bauman. Bauman is an author, a motivational speaker and an advocate but is best known as a man who lost both legs in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. During his rehabilitation, he also became a rare beacon of hope, shining out of a dark tragedy.
The pair are interviewing each other for a Facebook Q&A, as part of the promotion for Stronger, the movie adaptation of Bauman’s best-selling book of the same name, which he co-wrote in the aftermath of the attack.
Gyllenhaal portrays Bauman in the film, a role which has already garnered attention this awards season. The interview looks to be your typical junket fare – a bit of back and forth about the film, before those involved simply sit back and take turns blowing smoke up each other’s arses. But it’s not.
The actor earnestly introduces Bauman, who is wearing cut-off shorts that expose his prosthetic legs. “I can start off,” suggests Bauman, before launching into his first question. “You know Van Wilder, right? Ryan Reynolds? I really wanted him to play me. I was just wondering why he didn’t.”
There’s a comic pause, as Gyllenhaal recoils in mock-astonishment. “He would have been better, I think,” adds Bauman.
It’s hilarious. This, in a nutshell, sums up the friendship the two men have forged over the past two-and-a-half years. “Full-on piss-taking, left and right,” laughs Gyllenhaal. As it happens, Gyllenhaal and Reynolds are BFFs. They co-starred last year in the movie Life and each own loft apartments in the same converted factory building in Manhattan.
Jake Gyllenhaal is part of W Magazine annual Best Performances. The photoshoot is in our gallery.

“My dad always told me, ‘The job of an artist is to disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed.’ That’s always in my mind. It’s why I’m attracted to projects that are maybe going to illuminate something to you about yourself. It’s always a little frightening because you don’t know what you’re going to discover.”
